Last night the pump on the forward vaccume head blew a leak. So we ordered a
new bellows. It will be here Thursday. There are some things that just
should not be purchased used...
Then Also over the last two days
Sam and I cleaned and oiled the teak. It goes much faster now. Today Sam
and I went to work on the old 93 foot yacht. It was a lot of fun. I wish I
could say more but I can't. Oh... Sam and I swapped out circuit breakers so
that we had a 35 amp breaker for the radios. We also tested the Balmar
Generator and it does work. So now we just have to re-program the
voltage/charge regulator to work better. It's starting to get chilly. It's
50deg at night and 70's during the day.

Blackbeards
Curiosity... Cats...
This morning we got up and Lila was gone. She hasn't come back all day and
we have no idea where she is but Blackbeards is surrounded by forests so she
could be any where. Tonight we are going to go out walking with cat treats
to try and find our black cat in the middle of the night... oh my...
Yesterday we left Bishop's Marina at Mathew's point and sailed with Moral
Compass up to Blackbeards and docked. It was a fun sail but there was only
about 5-10 knots of wind. Skies were clear and temp was in the 70's. We
left at 11:30 after moving the cars to Blackbeards and then the wind died
around 14:30 so we had to motor the last 2 hours. It was wonderful to be
out on the water again.
We have entered Grace in a Classic and antique boat show next weekend. We
will be staying till then for sure getting the boat ready for showing.
We're excited and think it's going to be a lot of fun!

Found!
We found the cat!
This morning we found lila under a dinghy in the forest. When we called her
we heard her meow and followed the sound. The boat was upside down and she
was on the rowing bench. The boat was on the dinghy rack in the forest
about 200 yards from the boat. Everyone feels much better including the cat
after she had breakfast.
We also moved the boat from A dock over to C dock. But it looks like
something is blowing the ground circuit breaker on the dock. I'm afraid
that the two 30 amp plugs are on the same phase so they will never work
together. But it could be ground vs neutral or perhaps even a missing
isolator. We'll find out soon. But for now we are back on the generator.

Boat Show!
Blackbeards had a boat show!
Yesterday was a classic and antique boat show here at Blackbeards. There
were a lot of very nice old motorboats and a couple nice classic sailboats.
We loved the old Chris Craft motoboats with their mahagony decks and slick
varnish. There were also a lot of little wooden outboards with the most
amazing antique motors. We had a lot of people visit the boat and in the
late afternoon went for a two hour sail. We met a lot of really cool people
and got a lot of good advice on our teak decks.
The last few days we have been getting the boat ready for our sail south and
generally preparing the boat for company. We can't get the power to work at
the dock because the GFCI here does not support a reverse y cable.
The last week Sam and I spent working on the old wooden boat that we are
volunteering to help repair. It's a lot of fun and we're learning a lot
about wooden boat construction and repair techniques. I wish I could say
more but perhaps in the future.

Race!
Blackbeards Halloween party and Race!
Yesterday we entered our first race. We were supposed to have crew who knew
the river and had raced before but it didn't work out so we went just the 4
of us. We got up, prepped the boat, went to the skippers meeting and left
the docks at about 10am. Winds were out of the NE at 12-20. It was misting
in the early parts of the race and partly cloudy at the finish. We finished
third. It was a lot of fun. After the race there was a dinner and then the
halloween party at 1900 with a band.
