Starlink and Rum Ration
Status update
Hi Ya'll, The last few weeks have been really busy and I apologize for
missing a weekly update. However we are still here in Luperon and we now
have Starlink!! So connectivity will be much better from now on.
With regard to Rum Ration. They are still desparate and anything you
can do to help them would be greatly appreciated. We have not gathered
enough funds to start work on the engine yet and they are just hanging on
day by day. We are providing them water, some food, and I know several of
yall are also helping them. The current plan is to try to get the boat back
to the states so they can get jobs and hopefully save the boat. Otherwise
if they have to sell the boat just to get plane tickets to the states they
will take a huge hit. Raymond has sold just about everything on the boat
that is not connected and is currently selling spare sails.
Sonya is still sick and they are trying to get into the Medical system here
to get surgery but things are going slowly. We are, with others in the harbor
like sv SoMuchMore trying to make sure they eat. To the folks helping, for
privacy I'm not going to mention your names here but THANK YOU! both from
us and from Raymond and Sonya.

Rum Ration
Please help them
Hi all, We have a couple Cruisors in the harbor that need some help. We first met them in Georgetown when their engine
died and they had to sail out of an inlet and anchor at Georgetown under sail in the Bahamas. This was quite a feat
for only owning a boat for 3 months at the time. They eventually sailed engineless from the Bahamas to the Dominican Republic
where they are now in Luperon with us.
What makes their story more difficult is they had an Amazon Business that had been running for nearly a decade and a substantial
savings account to live on. So they sold their house and cars and bought a boat. But while they were stuck in the anchorage with no
motor their business partner died and his wife took their life savings. So Amazon shut down their business because they
missed too many orders and with no money left (embezzeled) They sailed pennyless here to the Dominican Republic.
During the sail they lost their steering. So while they were trying to figure out how to fix it They were drifting outside the
Bahamas south of San Salvador with no engine and no steering. Talk about getting a sailing education the hard way! Anyway,
they literally have no food and no water and they need to live day to day while they figure out how to rebuild the engine, fix the
steering and perhaps sell the boat or start another business or find a job or whatever. But for the time being they
are stuck without anything. We are, with others in the harbor like sv SoMuchMore trying to make sure they have at least food and
water till they get things figured out.
